My ambitions: rent and grocieries would be nice. I want to do work thats important to people's wellbeing, even if they don't know it. This is what draws me to cybersecurity, especialy for criitical infrastructure. I dream of going to grad school once I've gained industry experience and built up my research portfolio, I'd like to do a thesis driven masters at least and potentially a PhD if the masters goes well and I've got 5 years to kill.

Cooking (balancing ethical sourcing with tight budgets and flavor, Indian cuisine inspires many of my recipies here), kombucha brewing, lifting, yoga, videogames when there's time. I visit Wyoming in the summers to see my family and the mountians.

A little can go a long way. I think a lot about how to do the most good with the time and resources I have, professionally and personally. I think the most valuable thing I can contribute is my career.

Effective Altruism broadly: trying to do as much as you can with what little you have. Not any set ideology, moreso a way of approaching finite resources and an abundance of issues. EA is currently domminated by the AI saftey camp (but what isn't dominated by AI right now), but other Top concerns include: global poverty leading to countless (cheaply preventable) deaths, factory farming, climate change, biorisks, nuclear risks, risks from the use of AI by authoritarian states for surveilance, misinformation, and cyberwarfare. These are all very different issues, no one has the time to dedicate themselves to all of them at once, but what they have in common is scale. What people who care about EA issues have in common is big picture thinking, a desire for evidence based reasoning and evidence based outcomes. EA has gotten stigma from high profile scandals like Sam Bankman-Fried, and surely there will end up being high profile individuals in the future who stain the term "effective altruism" but for me, I was thinking about these issues since long before I heard the term EA and I intend to continue caring about them regardless of the state of the EA-Brand; whether I'm affiliating with it or distancing myself I believe in big picture and long term thinking, in remembering that every data point has an anecdote just as real and important as the ones we see close to us.
